Artist Statement

My interest in mandalas grew out of the traditional doily, which was popular around the middle of the 20th century. I found the patterns of the circular doily very beautiful and I began to make them. ​

I changed the doily from a vintage image into something more contemporary. In order to create these mandalas, I explored newer bright-colored and specialty fibers, as well as modern embellishments.

Eventually, they have evolved into larger and bolder statements.
